GETTING AROUND ULAANBAATAR

The bus system is a great way to get around Ulaanbaatar, and bus travel has become even convenient thanks to the introduction of the “UB Smart Cards” (shown below).

UB Smart Cards may be purchased at kiosk adjacent to bus stops with the “U-Money” sign (shown on the right) on them. The cards may be topped-up by a minimum amount of 500 tugriks to a maximum of 90,000 tugriks. The maximum remaining balance on the card is 500,000 tugriks.

One bus trip (regardless of distance) costs 500 tugriks, and passengers must tap their cards on the reader upon boarding and descending the bus.
